Rui Nunes
Rui Nunes M.D., has a Ph.D. in Bioethics in 1996. He is the Head of the International Chair in Bioethics www.int-chair-bioethics.org and the President of the 16th World Conference in Bioethics https://www.bioethicsbrasilia2024.com/ Concerning his professional activity, he is a Full Professor of Bioethics at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, the Director of the Center for Bioethics, and the President of the Ethics Committee of this Faculty. He is Director of the Master’s and Ph.D. Course on Bioethics since 1998, Director of the Master’s and Ph.D. Course on Palliative Care since 2009, and Director of the Post-graduation Course in Hospital Management since 2006. He is a member of the National Council of Ethics for Life Sciences (Portugal). He was President of the Regulatory Authority of Health the first independent healthcare regulatory agency created in Portugal. He was a member of the board of the European Health Management Association and of the International Society for Priorities in Health. He organized many seminars, congresses, and workshops. Namely, the World Conference on Bioethics, Medical Ethics & Health Law. He has published 29 books and more than 300 full papers. His last publication is “Healthcare as a Universal Human Right: Sustainability in Global Health, Routledge, New York, 2022”.
