Margareta P. Correia completed a degree in Applied Biology at the University of Minho, Portugal, in 2004. Afterwards, was granted an FCT PhD student fellowship, developing a project in Tumor Immunology at the IBMC, Porto, in collaboration with Dr. Uhrberg, University of Düsseldorf, Germany. In 2010, obtained the PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences from ICBAS (University of Porto). Was then awarded with a 2-year postdoctoral position at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ, Heidelberg) by the DKFZ Postdoctoral International Program, joining the group of Dr. Cerwenka, in the field of Tumor Immunology and NK cells. She established her independent line of research in the lab, being then funded with 2-rounds of third-party funding from Deutsches Krebshilfe (German Cancer Aid) from 2013-2019, as a Senior Researcher at DKFZ and Heidelberg University. During those years, she mentored/supervised several students and technical assistants and was involved in Teaching activities in MSc and BSc programs from DKFZ and from University of Heidelberg. She has taken several accredited courses, including “Teaching at the University level” (Heidelberg, Germany). Since Nov 2019, she is Auxiliary Researcher at the Cancer Biology & Epigenetics Group – Instituto Português de Oncologia do Porto (IPO-Porto), where she is Team Leader, establishing a new field of Immuno-Epigenetics. She is currently supervising MSc and PhD students and is actively involved in teaching activities in BSc, MSc and PhD courses in ICBAS and FMUP (Porto University).
